Does anyone else feel like the world is incomparably different in 2021 to how it was even in just 2015 or 2016? I'm not talking just corona but a whole bunch of things. 47 KB JPG >world feels darker, angrier, less friendly >people freak out at each other more >people can't tolerate differences in opinion anymore >political extremism and polarisation on both sides >internet censorship and cancel culture became popular >popular culture really declined. like the last truly great albums, movies and vidya i can remember is from 2017 at the latest >the world became more unstable and crazy things happened. this started in 2014ish with ISIS and the resurgence of terrorism but got way way worse post-2016 >people are doing things less IRL and more online. corona just made this worse and no one wants to go back to the old ways it seems >everyone is apparently suicidal and depressed now. even normies openly make jokes about wanting to kill themselves and everyone agrees >no one seems to have any hope for the future, everyone's pessimistic about the 2020s, and many think humanity won't even survive to the 2030s Like seriously how did all this happen? I really don't like it. I just wish we could reset the clock and go back to how things were in the early 2010s. 2011-2015 felt like a really chill time where people were optimistic following the end of the great recession and people made fun of the extremists on both sides. Now, it's like all we have left are the extremists, and young zoomers are growing up in this culture and being molded by it which is scary to think. How do I cope?
