I find it weird how Gothic art/architecture (and by extension the modern 'Goth' aesthetic) didn't actually come from the Goths but from the Franks and their successors. Meanwhile the actual Goths had an art style not too different from the Romans.

Like, this mausoleum was actually built by the Goths themselves yet looks totally different from anything we would consider "Gothic architecture".
