In short, the Republican party had their best election in years. They got the Governor's seat for the first time since 2009, along with the Attorney General position and legislature. This was despite fairly high voter turnout, which is something that normally favors Democrats.

All this was thanks in large part to hot button issues like the State/Federal government's response to Covid and Critical Race Theory being taught in schools.
