Actually, the point of the pickle rick episode wasn't the pickle joke. It was that Rick is so pathetic that he would rather do something as dumb and fucked up as turn himself into a pickle to avoid having a frank conversation with his family. He did it to avoid going to a psychiatry appointment with the family. So it actually had depth in the show before the "high iq" meme audience took it and turned it into cringe
