Japan is absolutely not the only country where these issues crop up, you can see it in millennials in Western nations who also bring up things like rising costs without a proper rise in pay to make life as manageable as it was for baby boomers, but it feels amplified in Japan due to how successful their industries that cater to escapism are, and maybe also the fact it's an island nation smaller than a good amount of US states with high population density.
