Bad employees - I can fire them for poor performance. "Good" employees - however - are a harder problem. They won't be great. They won't be terrible. Even though I can give them all the support they need to succeed... Even though I try and give them the motivation to push themselves... They'll still just be okay. But they won't be bad enough to let go. These employees cost me more than a bad one does in the long run. Beware the mediocre.
