All of a sudden, a random guy came up to me and asked... "Where can I buy a train ticket?" I responded: "I'm not sure where the ticket booths are, I have an app on my phone where I buy the tickets." He responded: "Can I buy them on the train or something?" I answered: "Yeah but I'm pretty sure it's $5 or $6 more." He answered: "I don't care, the company is paying for it." me off so much. As a This 30 second interaction p business owner this is the exact opposite of what I would want to hear from anyone at my company. It made me realize a few things... 1) Show by example & set the tone from the start. What you do is a reflection of what your team does. If I walk into our office in sweatpants, a t-shirt, and gym shoes that shows the rest of the company that I don't care about how I look, and gives them the message that they don't need to. Our Head of Operations Case Robbins used to wear a t-shirt & sweats everyday and now he's always dressed up & ready for any business meeting, store walk-in, dinner.
