Would you let your nanny go if you caught them crying on camera? We are the parents to one little boy. He is 15 months old. We have chosen private childcare for him and believe that investing in a nanny is ultimately the right choice while he is still so young. This is our second nanny the first we had when he was little didn't seem to like children very much and didn't interact with him. We met this nanny over the summer and have employed her for 6 months. And for the most part we are very happy with her. When we first interviewed our current nanny she told us that she was looking to do a nanny. share. And so this is what we have been doing. We have opened our home to one other child, a little boy who will be 1 later this month. It's been mostly positive. The boys get to play and interact but there have been some growing pains. 1 Anyway we periodically check in on the boys through our cameras (we have the whole house wired and there aren't any spaces aside from bathrooms the nanny can take the children without surveillance). Today I decided to check how things were going and I noticed that the boys were playing in a play pen and the nanny was standing about 10ft away crying quietly. So I watched back through the footage of the day and it seems that her tears are because she is frustrated with my child. My son is non verbal. But at 15mos most children are. He prefers to communicate through screams. You can see her throughout the day saying to him "use your words" "use your signs" "screaming does not help me go faster" and my child is just asking for help. Instead of giving him what he wants which would stop him from screaming, she's just talking at him frustrating them both. I find it alarming that she can't cope with basic childcare. And for what it's worth our son is MUCH easier than the other baby. He is a good boy and doesn't cause any trouble. He just cries and sometimes screams as babies do. I'm ready to let her go immediately. My husband says as long as she can remain kind to him while feeling overwhelmed she's allowed to be human. Thoughts? 0 50 2 ✓ Like Comment 239 comments Sen 3
