You say it is to promote tolerance, but sounds far more like an excuse given to forgive radically intolerant behaviour, by saying there is someone who your allowed to act that way towards, and find moral value while doing so.
On the face of it, the idea isn't remotely about promoting tolerance, or even actually making sure to stop intolerance, it is more about promoting aggression and radical action towards others.

If you live your life in such a manner, your setting yourself up to develop aggressive or hostile tendencies towards others. That may seem fine to you because it is supposed to be only towards the intolerant, but what would happen if they disappeared? Do you think your learned behaviours will stop, or do you realize the fact you and others like you will redefine what constitutes as intolerance as means of justifying your learned behaviour towards others?
