While Batman and Superman's friendship has been absolutely iconic over the years, Superman's rivalry with Lex has been just as important. Lex and Superman truly do not get along, because of their differing views on humanity, also the fact Lex hates Superman for being "perfect." At least until recently, this has kept them at odds for decades in DC's main continuity – yet, within the Multiverse, there are invariably plenty of universes where the two are best friends, such as the case of the Injustice universe. As depicted in Year of the Villain #1 , Earth-32 takes this a step further by pairing the two together romantically, which is apparently the best possibility for both of them.

Superman has a ton of powerful abilities, more than most comic characters, but the few things he lacks are possessed by Martian Manhunter. That's why Superman is afraid to fight Martian Manhunter, at least under usual circumstances. Martian Manhunter has telepathy, shapeshifting, and the ability to become intangible. While Martian Manhunter isn't as strong as Superman, he does have a wider range of abilities, which touch on areas Superman's set of abilities, as vast as it may seem, simply do not. That's why the pairing of both of their biologies makes this Superman so absurdly strong, making him legitimately overpowered on Earth-32.The multiverse is a place of infinite possibilities; while Superman and Lex are the most dire enemies on most worlds, Earth-32 offered readers – and the Multiverse-hopping Lex Luthor at the heart of Lex Luthor: Year of the Villain – a version of Superman that's not only at his absolute strongest, but also at his happiest. Shocking as it may seem, it shows that in cases where Lex and Superman are able to set aside their initial disdain for one another, they can achieve incredible things, whether it is as heroes, or romantic partners. The Earth-32 Superman who could have literally anything he wants, owes his happiness entirely to Lex Luthor.
