This makes me more depressed the more I think about it, and it reveals to me that under the sunshine and rainbows on our fandom’s face, we’re a really grim lot.

Think about the psychology this picture reflects. The older mlp fandom is formed largely on escapism, on retreating from the dark world of the everyday for a more idyllic innocence represented by Equestria. This picture and its like however acknowledge that the ponies we idealize would probably be uterly disgusted by us and our various perversions. You see, that dark world we’re trying to escape is much more than a simple location in space, we carry it with us in our hearts, it is a fundamental part of who we are. We are the problem we're trying to escape, and even if we could somehow reach that we innocent world we so desire, we would corrupt it with our touch.
