THE REAL STORY OF HERCULES Hercules is hated by Hera, because he is the son of her husband (Zeus) and a mortal. So, among other cruel things, she drives him to madness. In his madness, Hercules kills his wife, Megara, and his three sons. Atter he realized what he just done, he tries to kill himself. When Hercules retumed to his nomal state of mind the sun god Apollo assigned him 12 dangerous tasks, as the way of purifying his soul. He eventually did complete all the tasks and purified his soul, but a poison suddently bums his skin. Hercules, not able to endure the pain, placed himself on the fire to be bumed up alive. But Zeus thought that Hercules had suffered enough and saves him. Then Hercules was brought to Olympus
