"Thoughts and prayers" isn't always religous phrase, it's more of a common form of speech to note how sad you are and wish the victims the best. Many atheists use that phrase.

But even if it was it's not like Bronycon is a government funded secular event. If they want to invoke some christian prayer for a freaking tragedy who gives a shit?
