Consider that it's already mentioned that, at one point in time, Pokemon and humans were very close to each other. If I recall correctly, they married each other, and ate meals together, almost as a unified family. Then, I suppose, human technology came into play, causing humans to dominate, and drive away the other Pokemon for preference of prosperity.
Personally, I prefer seeing a world run by tribes of humanoid Pokemon, ruling over the more 'wild' Pokemon. Psychic-types, with their higher intelligence, probably would wield the most control over the wilderness, but even at that, it would be a timid grasp.
I'd tell you all my ideas, but I want to leave some credibility to my work, because I do want to work with it another time.
I can't be the only one who finds the idea of the anthro pokemon to be a little weird. Just to imagine seeing what are basically humanoids walking about in the wild, waiting for someone to "capture" them.
People can debate day and night about old/new Pokemon designs, I just like the ones that actually look like they could fit into nature.
