The term is "best altemative to a negotiated agreement" and really it has everything to do with leverage and, as it turns out, #GamerGate. Simpy put, BATNA is the best case scenario if two parties don't work it out. So consider #GG and Joumalists as two parties Their BATNA is that the movement peters out without them making any concessions. This one is interesting. It requires three things 1) No concessions 2) The movement should peter out. 3) No negotiation reached So the optimal move for them is to hold the line and make attempts to disenfranchise the movement without making a HOWEVER: We are the customers. We want something. It's their JOB to listen. So by all rights a negotiation should have been reached a while ago. This is why, no matter what happens, they will keep playing up the harassment. This is why THEY benefit from harassment. Now, this was in the last thread. Someone asked why the hell Boogle, who did nothing except say he supported GamerGate and that the harassment needed to stop. This is why: Boogie was probably the potentially single worst thing to happen to them had he stuck around. If there's ANY proof that we wanted to negotiate and we wanted to stop harassment, then they lose everything. So what do we do knowing this? Well, what's our BATNA? Our BATNA is that we keep raising hell through the holidays, it negatively impacts some important video game companies and the journalists get slapped down. So whille we attempt to reach negotiations (which won't be reached, don't fool yourselves) we should be sure to do everything we can to preserve our BATNA.

Calm down there, Khorne. Direct quote from the picture you're commenting on: "If there's ANY proof that we wanted to negotiate and we wanted to stop harassment, then they lose everything." Staying the course and not backing down is important, but so is staying civil and open to discussion – if you don't care about discourse, then at least to make yourself look better to outsiders. It's important that we show everyone that we're the bigger people here.

I knew Batnaman would save GamerGotham from the evil Jokers!

(Also, I don't think anyone on the side of gamergate would ever accept any negotiations after what the other side have said and done anyway, so we should be good with this.)
