The AAA industry is a status quo that they want to preserve and indeed one we wish to change. The indie industry is kind of a bit of both but is generally one we want to preserve and they want to... well, from what I can see, eliminate. The gaming press is a mixed bag, but we do have a fairly liberal gaming press, so they want to make it conservative well, weve seen The Escapist goddamn pander to them. Weve seen Gamasutra lose a sponsor. And I cant help but see that Weve seen journalists quit. Weve seen crowdfunding limited. We don't know how much it will hurt because it's a thing over time, but it's going to hit. And the triple AAA industry? Theyve just been handed big stacks of proof that yep, they should absolutely keep on targeting this one group of people, because there are lots of them and they buy the same stuff over and over They're winning And I admit, I'm really pondering just letting them have gaming. Author has 304 answers and 740.1K answer views. 5y Not that I care that much either way, but it did expose a lot of corrupt game developers and game journalists. X Journalists would make claims of people like Anita Sarkeesian "playing video games all her life" when she openly admitted many times she is not a gamer and only starter recently (when it wasn't for an interview). Various developers trading sex or money for good reviews got exposed, journalists who accepted got exposed. People became a bit more critical about supporting a game just because the developer has a victim complex stating tat their game could have only failed because of sexism, instead of their own poor developing skills. What really sealed the deal was opposition often faking their own harassment. Anita sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn have been caught multiple times screenshotting "harassment" while showing that the harrasser's account name in the login. Or when someone called the police to help Sarkeesian against a "very real threat" she was posting about, only for police to find the harasser's messages were coming from her IP address. I just want honesty from the community, and the lies were mostly exposed by the "dreaded" gamergate. 1.3K views • View upvotes 26

Actually, no, GG is not "anti-indie". What shocked me most about gamergate is that it revealed that the indie scene is equally corrupt (and, might I add, severely lacking on the diversity side-for all their talk about social justice, there are a lot of middle-class white males from the Pacific Coast on there.)
