![A Perspective from Someone Outside the Gaming Industry The Leader of Gamergate 10/20/14 (Mon) 05:11:44 ID: df1d82 No. 192995 Watch Thread] Hello 8Chan I've been lurking around for a while and have been aware about the entire GamerGate situation since around the end of September. I wish to remain anonymous because of what has happened to other people who work and come out for GamerGate, but since l don't like or operate inside the USA I should be safe but don't want to take any chances. I'm here to say one thing You guys are doing a lot better than this board is saying Let me explain, I work for a specialist recruitment company in the UK, we usually get posting from most industries but our key focus is banking and IT Firms (Software engineers etc.). We look for those that are the best for the position, both in skills and personality, which means aside from the usual references and educational establishments, we look through social medias sites like FaceBook and Twitter This for two major reasons. First, we want to know what this person is like personality wise. We don't care about what movies these people are watching or any of those e-cards with inspirational quotes, we look for anything that could be consider extremely vulgar. Signs of discrimination based upon sex, income, or race are the things we look out for. If they are proven to hold these views, regardless of whether or not they could be a descendant of Hercules himself he will be thrown out of the candidate list instantly Second, we look for signs of how they interact with other people. How well they do under scrutiny, and viewpoints that are different to their own. This is important because the minute they are hired into a company, they formally represent the company when they are working, both in real life and on the internet. The reason I am telling you all this is because the things that I have seen come from the profiles of the GamesJournoPro people are complete career killers. Gawker is proving themselves to be a vile pit of hate and discrimination and everyone working at said company are going to be painted with the same brush. When they leave and try to hire them, the employer or recruitment company is going to do some research and find out everything they've said to their consumer base. I don't need to tell you how bad insulting your key demographic looks to your company. You are killing them in this regard and they know it. If GamerGate goes on the way it is, I would not be surprised if we hear that these people go onto benefits because no company worth their weight in salt would dare hire them But this is the problem, the people calling you every name under the sun know that this information removes any chance of a better job outside of the Games "Journal" industry. I predict that once their plan on trying to get as much media spotlight on you guys as possible, they'll work tirelessly to remove any and all evidence that they've attacked and insulted the GamerGate movement. My guess would be they'd start on discussions within places like Escapist Magazine before moving onto places like KnowYourMeme which holds thousands of screencaps of their Twitter feeds. Regardless of whether they stop the GamerGate discussion they don't want the mud on their sleeves I want to give you some advice in regards to this 1. Screencap EVERYTHING - regardless of whether or not it's Pro and Anti GamerGate, everything needs to be recorded, arguments no matter how small can work against these people. Nobody wants an employee that has shown that he or she has no trouble talking down to a consumer base 2. Back it all up - KnowYourMeme is doing a good job but that's only one place. When they target the site, and they will target that place, the information stored could be lost from public eye for a while. Making sure everything you dig up on these people is safe and backed up, even if it is on someone's external hard drive, makes sure that the information gets out. The Streisand Effect is real but it needs you guys to start whenever information gets hidden. 3. Never provoke them- Trying to get a rise out of these people, no matter how much you can justify it, won't work. If they retaliate one could argue that they were provoked and it has less effect. But if someone argues politely and displays their points in a way that is clear and well thought out, and then they hurl insults and rage, that looks bad Some of you think that them going on air a slandering the GamerGate movement is their way of attacking you, it's not. It is just an effort to try and keep the spotlight away from their own malpractices for the time being, but it is only delaying the inevitable. This is doing more damage to them than your constant emails to advertiser, though that as well is a good way to remove their platforms.
