X Journalists would make claims of people like Anita Sarkeesian "playing video games all her life" when she openly admitted many times she is not a gamer and only starter recently (when it wasn't for an interview). Various developers trading sex or money for good reviews got exposed, journalists who accepted got exposed. People became a bit more critical about supporting a game just because the developer has a victim complex stating tat their game could have only failed because of sexism, instead of their own poor developing skills. What really sealed the deal was opposition often faking their own harassment. Anita sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn have been caught multiple times screenshotting "harassment" while showing that the harrasser's account name in the login. Or when someone called the police to help Sarkeesian against a "very real threat" she was posting about, only for police to find the harasser's messages were coming from her IP address. I think it's not just because Liana is the wrong kind of girl. It's because according to the media, we gamers are the wrong kind of people. We've been stigmatized for all sorts of horrible things for the last couple of decades. Then one day we decided that we had enough and we weren't going to take it anymore. Of course their response is going to be overly negative. We just have to remember to stand strong in the face of adversity. We have to show them that we're not afraid of anything they can throw at us. Maybe one day, they'll get the picture and back off from Anita and her ilk. Perhaps one day, the mainstream media will give us a fair chance to explain our side of the story. Until then, we must ask ourselves, 'What would Captain Kirrahe do?' He would hold the line and that's what we're going to do from now to the end.
