Here is a more relatable context, it's like taking a character like ddd, and getting rid of his sexy curves so he is nothing more than a skinny penguin. Part of ddd's character is that he is 'big' (boned), and changing that would harm the character's image. So making a smaller Ridley or a smaller winged Ridley would just not fit. I am a fan of Ridley, but I am ok with him not being in.
