Sakurai explains why Ridley isn't a fighter in Smash Bros. Here's his explanation: 60 "I definitely know that Ridley's a much-anticipated name for fans, but if we made Ridley as a fighter, it wouldn't be Ridley any longer. It'd have to be shrunk down, or its wings reduced in size, or be unable to fly around freely." "Providing accurate portrayals of characters is something I want to pay ample attention to. If I don't stick to that thought, then we'd have to lower the quality or break the balance of the game. Here is a more relatable context, it's like taking a character like ddd, and getting rid of his sexy curves so he is nothing more than a skinny penguin. Part of ddd's character is that he is 'big' (boned), and changing that would harm the character's image. So making a smaller Ridley or a smaller winged Ridley would just not fit. I am a fan of Ridley, but I am ok with him not being in.
