X Journalists would make claims of people like Anita Sarkeesian "playing video games all her life" when she openly admitted many times she is not a gamer and only starter recently (when it wasn't for an interview). Various developers trading sex or money for good reviews got exposed, journalists who accepted got exposed. People became a bit more critical about supporting a game just because the developer has a victim complex stating tat their game could have only failed because of sexism, instead of their own poor developing skills. What really sealed the deal was opposition often faking their own harassment. Anita sarkeesian and Zoe Quinn have been caught multiple times screenshotting "harassment" while showing that the harrasser's account name in the login. Or when someone called the police to help Sarkeesian against a "very real threat" she was posting about, only for police to find the harasser's messages were coming from her IP address. I just want honesty from the community, and the lies were mostly exposed by the "dreaded" gamergate. 1.3K views • View upvotes 26

Statement by The Devil's Advocate This dispute has eluded resolution through other means ranging from raising concerns at conduct noticeboards and attempts at mediation regarding content. While editors with fewer contributions, as far as I know only those who are or are seen as favorable to the GamerGate side, have been routinely sanctioned or blocked, the established editors who are unfavorable to the GamerGate side and are the source of a lot of the conflict continue unimpeded. This is at least partly due to the fact that they have a sufficient number of sympathizers to prevent any consensus from being reached regarding their conduct. Another problem in this situation is that there are admins who are either WP:INVOLVED on the subject taking action against their opponents while giving them a pass or admins whose actions are otherwise dubious. Some of these admins have a history of questionable use of their admin tools on other topics. I can elaborate further on those details, though some of it is evidenced in the discussions linked above. Even though general sanctions have been imposed in the topic area and there are BLP discretionary sanctions covering some of these details, it has done nothing to stop this behavior from continuing and escalating as it has over the past week. There was no conflict with Mr. Auerbach until he came onto the site and made one by failing to assume good faith in my original edit weeks ago. I retracted all of my statements about him where I characterized his message to me as a threat. I gave him a heartfelt apology and told him why l reacted the way I did because he asked me to apologize and he just goes "don't believe you" and feels that my subsequent reaction to this is evidence enough. I am disappointed by this turn of events. There is no valid reason I should step away from the article. There are dozens of editors who have come to Wikipedia for the sole reason of rewriting the article to favor their fringe movement and they remain untouchable or undeterred because they have no real dog to lose if they get banned. But just because one writer is upset with the paraphrased criticism I wrote about weeks ago that has been rewritten already and that the various editors below acknowledge wasn't entirely incorrect means I have to step down? I have no agenda with this page. I have no personal conflict with Mr. Auerbach other than my disgust with how all this has panned out. This has somehow given the people who want to silence me for opposing their opinion are using it as an excuse to have me topic banned when there have been much more egregious violations of BLP that they have performed but remain untouched. But I'm at fault because Gamergate is just the latest in a line of nerd groups who have made me out to be the Wikidevil incarnate. I think it worthwhile to summarize what one part of what happened here clearly so that other Wikipedians reading this talk page are better able to understand the situation. David Auerbach, who writes for Slate (magazine), expressed a concern on twitter that "ajimmy_wales 152: "women...should both be held responsible for what Gamergate had become"-Isquith does not say I said this, and I didn't." [7] 9. This refers to the paragraph wisely removed by Drmies after the complaint. It is important that we be really clear - this is a BLP issue. Saying that a writer for a respectable publication was criticized for something as awful as saying that victims of harassment were responsible for that harassment is a serious claim, and it is a claim that was never in the source provided. Meanwhile, Tarc claims that his tweets were "without merit" and further, in Drmies words "Tarc is yelling at Auerbach via twitter." This is a disgrace. I am recommending that Tarc step away from this article permanently, and that if he does not do so voluntarily and continues with this kind of POV warrior behavior that he be topic- banned from this article. Having looked at the leaked emails, I would say that the allegations of collusion are largely and obviously true.
