Why Tumblr is no longer safe for anyone, and why you shouldn't throw words like 'genocide' around casually I find social justice "calout culture", doxxing, making people into pariahs because they used a sfur out of context once, the idea of never allowing peopie to let go of the past and change for the better (because it's better for justice to give up on someone and persecute them forever than accept they can change, right? After all, the movement is about working hard to make the world a better place and not taking the easy option of harassing or bullying people to get a self-righteous feeling, right?), etc, far, FAR more frightening than racist/sexist etc. trolis on 4chan. That kind of black and white thinking backed up by a strong, unwavering moral conviction that they're ruining people's lives for a just, righteous cause and anyone who disagrees is an enemy reminds me very, very much of religious fundamentalist terrorist groups. It's the same mentality. "I'm only doing this because you're the enemy. The world would be purer and more just you were gone If people think I'm exaggerating, think of the Facebook and Twitter users whose messages were taken out of context or doctored and who were fired from their jobs or disowned by their families for "racism" or "sexual harassment" when their actual words were taken out of context. Think of the xkit guy. Tumblr's most beloved user, the one who made this site far more usable and accessible for us all (including the blacklist essentially al SJWs use to block their "tnggers). I am this close to leaving Tumblr because of what happened to me. It's hysteria, it's witch-hunting, it's terrorism. Tumblr is NOT a safe space for anyone. Using this website is playing Russian Roulette. One wrong move-one step out of line-and your safety, your job, your bank account, your entire existence could be at stake. And the people doing it will not stop. It's not bullying to them. It's not wrong. It's a moral imperative. It's something they feel they ethically have to do. It's just and righteous, it's the right thing. Of course rapists and abusers have to be stopped. Of course powerful peopie should be held accountable for the mess they've caused. Of course ordinary Tumblr users should be scolded if they do something wrong,I would tell my friends offげthey did something bad out of concern for them and they tell me offi But there's a difference between "Hey man, I don't think that was appropriate, you know?" or "We need to stop this senator from passing this discriminatory law!" and "This person used a slur on Facebook, let's get them out of their job and break up their family". It's not even "an eye for an eye" here. It's "an eye for a rude look. Sut is that surprising on a website where terms like "iolence and "genocide" are thrown around casually? It's tempting to roll your eyes when someone calls an accidental misgendering "an act of viovence", but this s--- has real effects、 if someone views not being aware of every trans issue which affects an incredibly small minority of the population) as an act of "violence, "every racial joke as an act of "genocide," no wonder they feel this kind of s--- is justified! When you think of genocide, you think of Hitier I'm concermed that a significant chunk of this website actually feels ike someone making a douchey, casually racist joke on Twitter is equivalent to the Holocaust. This is why I get shivers when I hear words like "violence, "genocide," "colonialism" thrown around so casually. Imagine if you could meet Hiter in the fiesh. Imagine how angry you'd feel for his war crimes, what you'd want to do with him, how you'd want to make him feel, and how ustified the majority of people would feel that would be. Would you hurt him? Would you want to koll him? Make him suffer? Then bear in mind that this is how Tumblr SJWs feel when people make slightly racist Facebook comments.No wonder they feel their builying is morally justified! No wonder they feel it's a moral imperative! They're fighting genocidel They're saving the world! The abuse of words like "genocide" here is a SERIOUS PROBLEM. It has real repercussions. "I want to know all the facts in the Mike Brown/Darren Wilson case before I come to a conclusion about it, so I'm not willing to say for certain Wilson should be in prison yet" becomes equivalent to "I want all black people wiped out from America in a race war, even if I am black myself, because I've absorbed so much internalised racism from society I hate myself and my race." What else could you think when you're told people who arent 100% behind Tumblr's majority opinion are participating in genocide? White selfies? "Thave Irish ancestry, the Inish were oppressed too!"? No black peopie in this Disney cartoon? All acts of genocide. Opinions worthy of the same respect Hitler deserves. Do you see how harmful this grotesque abuse of language is now? Do you see how a kid from your school telling a dirty joke on Twitter becomes a war cniminai? I don't feel safe here, especially since what happened to the xkit guy. feel like F'm on a website being run by a small but vocal fundamentalist cult who make it unsafe for the majority here to live an ordinary life, who have no concept of proportional and just retribution, and who can ruin your life for real for the slightest wrongdoing. Tumbir social justice is not a crazy, harmless movement. This website is dangerous. This is so true. This kind of factors in to the evolution of language. Is it really all that bad to say like' after every fifth word or whatever? It may be grating but it's not harmful. But when everything gets replaced with euphemisms and powerful word's are brought down, language loses it's impact. And that damages our ability to communicate. It's a different kind of harm SJWs are causing when they trivialize these words- they take our ability to mean something when we speak. Somebody made a claim that he was a sexual predator with no evidence whatsoever and tumblr ate it up like the stupid motherfuckers they are.

And then they harassed him about it so bad he had a mental breakdown over it and left.

He may never come back.

So not only did they spread horrific accusations about an innocent man, we're all at the mercy of whatever godawful update Staff forces us in the future and he won't be around to fix it.
