Considering Watch Dogs literally started out as a racing game… yeah, I bet Ubisoft themselves didn't know what they wanted or expected. This would explain why all the grass is just a giant pitfall, you simply don't go there if you drive on a track.

Oh, and Assassins Creed still uses the good old (12 years to be precise) Prince of Persia engine. How often was that engine reblended and remoulded? This, too, would explain the otherwordly game logic like adhesive plantlife or invisible roof extentions.
