Lack of evolution does not mean perfection, rather it means there is no reason for a species too evolve. The reason something evolves is that their species cannot survive in its current form, and those with differences who survive are not the better ones, but more suited too said environment. Over time that species will evolve to suit it's new environment and will remain relatively the same until the environment changes again. Alternatively a species has no ability too cope and then they simply die out, or rather like humans alter our environment too suit us.

On the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was better than than the jellyfish because he had achieved so much – the wheel, New York, wars and so on – whilst all the jellyfish had ever done was muck about in the water being semi-transparent blobs of protein. But conversely, the jellyfish had always believed that they were far better than man – for precisely the same reasons.
