In the episode, it was revealed that Steven could somehow communicate with Lapis in his dreams. At this point it's difficult to know the full reach of this ability, but the latter might have had something to do with it (but then again, I'm not sure).

Is she trying to reach out for help, or is Steven constantly thinking about her in this dream?
