I View all 2 replies Cuckoo 14 minutes ago Try to picture one of those poor-quality wind-up toy cars that countless kids probably got in their stockings this Christmas Imagine letting go of that toy car at the top of the stairs with all your friends watching, marvelling as it sets off without even needing a push, and watching it zip down those first few steps. You know that it won't get far before it inevitably loses it's grip and starts clattering catastrophically down those stairs- plummeting faster and more violently and more spectacularly with each terrible bounce. But that's all part of the fun, and it wouldn't be the same if the car remained straight and rode true all the way to the bottom of the stairs. You still root for the car, even as you hollar and whoop every time it connects harshly and noisily with the unyielding surface of the stairs- gradually accumulating more and more dents and scrapes and missing parts to the point that it's barely recognisable as the car you had when you started Now imagine that you and your friends are the internet (the chans and Reddit are there, and so's ED), the cars autistic, and the stairs will never end until the car is too broken and shattered to travel any further, and stops for good- and youve been following that car downward for about seven years so far.
