Origin

On April 30th, 2025, Instagram^[1] user @formzee uploaded AI-generated dress design named "Chronopattern Dress", which he describe it as "Woven from moments, shaped by memory. The Chronopattern Dress carries the rhythm of time in every thread." The post received more than 1,600 likes in one week (shown below).

Spread

On April 30th, 2025, Twitter / X^[2] user @ClothesAesthe reuploaded the image. The post received more than 93,000 likes and 10,000 reposts in one week.

Days later, the image gained popular where artists using it as reference to draw fan art of characters wearing the dress. For example on May 3rd, 2025, Twitter / X^[3] user @_nHase uploaded fan art of Hololive VTuber Gigi Murin wearing the dress. The post received more than 99,000 likes and 8,000 reposts in two days (shown below).

On May 4th, 2025, Twitter / X^[4] user @Kaos_ottehkob uploaded fan comic of Hololive VTuber, Raora Panthera, which being asked by the Chattini (blue cat-like plushie depicted as her fans) to buy the dress. The post received more than 45,000 likes and 2,600 reposts in one day (shown below).

On the next day, Reddit^[5] user Rj_TBNR uploaded Homer Simpson in a Lesbian Bar edit to depicting their reaction with the trend of Hololive talents wearing the dress to the /r/Hololive subreddit. The post received more than 3,800 upvotes in three hours (shown below).
