Don't Shoot, I'm a Nazi Too is a four-panel exploitable webcomic by artist StoneToss in which an Allied soldier convinces a Nazi soldier to spare him by saying that "there are two genders". The comic gained popularity as an exploitable on Reddit and Twitter in mid-January 2020, with the Allied soldier convincing the Nazi soldier to spare him with various statements.

Origin

On January 16th, 2020, comic artist StoneToss posted a four-panel comic titled "Papers, Please" to his website^[1] and social media (shown below).^[2][3] In the comic, an Allied soldier convinced a Nazi soldier not to shoot him by saying that he is a nazi and saying "there are two genders" as proof. The comic received over 2,400 retweets and 9,900 likes on Twitter and 12,000 likes on Instagram in five days.

On the same day, Twitter^[4] user @JazzCigars posted the first known edit of the comic, altering the words said by the allied soldier. The edit received 13 retweets and over 190 likes in five days (shown below).

Spread

Starting on January 16th, 2020, users on Twitter, Reddit and other websites posted multiple edits based on the comic. On Reddit, a number of edits of the comic were posted in /r/antifastonetoss subreddit. For example, a January 16th, edit by Redditor^[5] PartyElevator received over 6,400 upvotes in five days (shown below, left). A January 17th, 9-Year-Old Army edit by Redditor^[6] EddieSpaghetti2950 received over 15,100 upvotes in /r/PewdiepieSubmissions subreddit before being removed by the moderators (shown below, right).

On January 19th, 2020, Redditor^[7] schafersteve posted a template for the comic to /r/MemeEconomy subreddit, where it gained over 13,900 upvotes before being removed by the moderators. On the same day, Redditor^[8] Benitez117 posted an altered version of the format in which the Nazi soldier shoots the Allied soldier.
