Overview

Rocket Monkeys is a Canadian animated comedy that aired for three seasons on Teletoon between January 2013 and November 2016. The show follows two monkeys, Gus and Wally, that are sent into space to carry out various missions. They are given their assignments by an astrophysicist named Dr. Chimpsky and were given a robot named YAY-OK to help them. In early 2026, the show experienced a resurgence in popularity on X/Twitter after multiple gross-out clips of the cartoon went viral.

History

Rocket Monkeys was created by Dan Abdo and Jason Patterson and produced by Mark Evestaff for the Canadian television network Teletoon. The development of the series began in 2006 and started pre-production in 2008. The series premiered on January 10, 2013, and ran for three seasons, resulting in a total of 66 episodes, with the last episode airing on November 23, 2016.

Online Presence

In early 2026, the show saw a resurgence in popularity on social media as clips of toilet humor from the show were ironically reposted onto Twitter. The oldest ironic repost of a clip from the show available is from the user @MatthewRey85072, who posted the clip in response to an ironic engagement bait post.

On February 1st, 2026, TikTok user Eureekochua posted a clip from the show in which the character Gus keeps repeating, "Poo poo test?," garnering over 6,846 likes in 2 weeks.

Fandom

During this popularity, the series stared to garner a small fandom. Fans were drawn to the character YAY-OK, with an abundance of fan art being created for him. Some fans even called the character "hot" and created suggestive artwork.
