Speaking as a Texan, Texas wouldn't make it a year before collapsing if we seceded. We joined the US in the first place SPECIFICALLY because Texas couldn't survive on its own as a nation.

California is literally the most profitable state for the us government. Getting rid of it would cause massive and irreparable damage to the economy due to the unique aspects of California's tax income such as the movie industry, theme parks, and tourism.
