A lot of users would take advantage of this feature by editing posts they didn't like (or sometimes just random posts by popular users) into unintelligible nonsense/memes/shitposting. It was funny because you'd see a post with a ton of notes that didn't make any sense whatsoever and tumblr likes surreal humor. For example: someone might edit an unpopular staff update to make it look like @staff said something dumb like "i like eggs". This is funny, trust me. then, one day, someone did this to John Green. I don't remember what the post was or the edit (they were both deleted). Whats important is that someone thought they were making a lighthearted joke and john green took it to be literally slanderous (IIRC the edit was kind of offensive and much more popular than the original post, though no one actually thought John Green had actually said it). He made a big fuss to staff and they banned the edit feature. TL;DR John Green Freaks out over common silly joke on tumblr, the users' opinion of him goes from "greatest person ever" to "shitlord" in a matter of days Θ 133 Reply Award Share Inufalo 11y ago I believe it was this edit.
