KYM Mod AMA: Twenty-One

Our favourite weeaboo mod wanted an AMA so here it is.

For those who doesnt know, Twenty-One (rather known as Random21 before he changed his name to Twenty-One because Brad called him "RandomMan21".) is one of the most active mods on the site. Most of his contributions are anime related, that made him earn his "Anime Anthropologist" badge last year.

He loves shotacon and Psycho Pass. Anyway, feel free to ask him any questions you want.

I guess for some real questions:

When did you first get into anime and what was the first anime that you watched?

Have you ever met anyone famous (internet or otherwise)?

What do you do IRL (school, work, volunteer)?

If you could choose to live in a fictional universe, which one would it be?

When did you first get into anime and what was the first anime that you watched?

FINALLY REAL QUESTIONS. I actually only really got into anime a year and a half ago now.I was a big fan of a reviewer named JesuOtaku, despite not actually watching anime, so I thought I'd give a show a try. The first show I watched was Ouran Highschool Host Club, which I loved, so I decided to watch more

I wish, but meeting people requires me to go outside soooooooo

What do you do IRL (school, work, volunteer)?

Currently in full time education, in Sicth Form (essentially last 2 years of Highschool for you non-Brits). Haven't yet got a job partially because I'm lazy, but also partially because I think I wouldn't be able to juggle work and school at the same time, and I don't need any more stress to deal with.

If you could choose to live in a fictional universe, which one would it be?

Er, I'm not sure, I'm pretty comfortable with my own universe to be honest. But if I had to pick one, I'd pick Free!, because at least my Husbando exists there. What, you were expecting an interesting answer? Too bad

What are your preferences in an anime? Is there a certain element that prevents you from watching certain shows?

Not really actually, I'm usually pretty open minded about anime. If I had to say something, it would be fanservice, but even with that I'm usually okay if they do something interesting with it, it's just that usually it's generic.

Do you like to watch anything else aside form anime?

Actually, besides YouTube, not really. Recently I've all but stopped watching tv shows, and there's nothing else that catches my interest. Even YouTube I'm not THAT into.

What is the single worst non-hentai anime you have seen?

I have two answers here. If we're going for "the one that insulted my intelligence the most", that'd be Rail Wars!, even if I love that show for how shitty it is, it is still god awful. On the other hand, if you're asking "what show personally annoys you the most", it would be Kyoto Animation's Beyond the Boundary/Kyoukai no Kanata, for just reeking of wasted potential. That show could have been good, it started out good, and it ended up awful, which is a huge shame, and sticks in my mind because of it

That's the thing, there aren't many yaoi hentai anime out there, the only one to spring to mind is Sensitive Pornograph, and that wasn't too bad. So ignoring the obvious elephant in the room here, I really can't answer that. A shame really.

Like I said earlier, I'm really impartial, and it kinda depends. I'd say that Slice of Life comedies are both my favorite and my least, because when they're good, they can be really fucking good (Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-Kun) and when they're shit, they can be really shit (K-On)

Why Sixth Form over a College course?

Well when I first had the option, I was unsure of what I really wanted to do, so I felt that sixth form could keep my options more open. Besides, I prefer the way Sixth Form runs.

I haven't read much manga at all, but out of the few manga I have read, I really enjoyed Parasyte, which currently has an anime adaptation ongoing.

any specific yaoi animes you like?

I assume here you mean non-hentai yaoi, to which I answer only one. You see, yaoi manga and anime have a tendency to be quite, er, rapey, which I don't really enjoy. The only yaoi anime I've seen that I can say was actually good was last season's Love Stage, which I thought was really funny (yaoi anime has a tendency to also be really dry) and handled well.

What is your favorite, live action movie?

I am not a movie person at all, live action or animated. My interests only really lie in Anime and Video Games, I don't really touch anything outside of that. But to answer your question, from the movies I have watched, the only movie I recall that stood out to me is the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. That film only really comes to mind because I was a huge Roald Dahl nut as a kid, so I watched that movie a shit ton as a kid. Nostalgia, basically.
