Everyone thinks that the world is gonna end on 12/12/2012 because the Mayan calendar ends. The Mayans were hundreds of years ahead of time, and had a running calendar. When their civilization was wiped out, who was there to continue the calendar? No one. Their calendar stopped at 2012.
You can argue saying that 'Oh well the Mayans were always correct', but hey, if they were correct, then WHY DID THEY ALL DIE?

You guys could both possibly be right.

The Mayan calendar was cyclical, meaning that year 2013 and year 1 would be the same.
Thus they did not bother to make another year.

Well the world ends every 50 years or so, by which they mean change, so basically new world order, IDK beef jerky ice cream, and robots that really hate us because we hate them more.

God I hope so, if its not 2012 its gonna be 2015 at tops.

I think that the mayan's will say
"Hey, what's all the fuss about, you're calendar ends every 365 days, and no one complains bout that?!"
Then the Republicans will get into power, and they'll just stand there licking a dogs bum. Then Glenn Beck will ban all non Tea party papers, Channels, and books, then destroy government so
"There's no socialisisisism see!". Then he'll go on TV and cry
"There's not enough guns or we will go dead dead."
Meanwhile the rest of the world is sitting there thinking
"Oh god America's gone! Who will we follow into war now!"
And China will lead the way to global communism. Then Glenn Beck will go on TV again and say
"There not enough USA!! We gotta get some!!" then he'll declare war on everyone else and end the world. But what do I know.

the Mayans did not have and apocalyptic view of the end of the world in the western sense of the phrase, after "the end" the world simple began anew same earth same people.
