This would be an awesome me. The problem is there is just ONE site to make them. Unless there is another name for it. Is there?
I found myself making similar things before knowing that site:

I found two pics on this site that match that:

Let me know if you need more information about TotallyLooksLike.com. We launched it in 2008 and a builder came around a few months after. We can dig out the relevant dates. When we started the site, we did research into the origins of this. It goes back a long time, to the pre-internet magazine days.

Why does every single one of your posts get positive karma?

Threw this up. Anyone can feel free to jump in with editorship, just hit the request button.

What were the pre-internet magazine origins? What were the Internet origins? What led to the single topic blog being created?

I believe magazines like MAD and others had "Separated at Birth" features. We would need to confirm that. As per Web origins, they weren't called anything specific until we settled on TTL. Users had uploaded things (cat related) to ICHC and we thought it would be fun to allow users to email us with two photos and we would shop it together. After a while, we were certain that this was a site we wanted to run and built a Flash-based builder (Kyall built it, you can talk to him when you are here).

Awesome, thanks. I think I remember those MAD Magazine features now that you mention it.

What have been some of the extremely popular outliers? I think the Richard Dawkins/Emma Watson, and the cats that look like Wilford Brimley are fairly classic.

If it wasn't for the hair

Edna's no-nonsense personality and round glasses are a direct homage to Edith Head, a Hollywood costume designer. Universal's costume dept. is in the Edith Head Building.
