Hank Hill Listens to X aka The New Generation of Music, is a series of videos from Youtube showing the character Hank Hill from the animated TV series King of the Hill listening to music on headphones, reacting with a horrified and baffled expression.

Origin

The original clip comes from the very first episode of the series, suitably titled “Pilot”, broadcast 12th of January 1997. In the original episode Bobby and Hank are originally listening to a comedy CD full of fart sound effects. There are also some videos that use clips from the episode “Reborn to be Wild” (9th Novermber 2003) of Hank Hill listening to music in a CD store.

The first video of this kind was most likely “Hank Hill listens to fart sounds while I play unfitting music” by FlamezV2, uploaded 22nd May 2009, based on the popular meme Unfitting Music.

The meme has had a boost in popularity recently due to a video uploaded by MrYaridovich which shows Hank listening to a Dubstep remix of the Cutie Mark Crusaders Theme from My Little Pony by DJAelxs^[1].

Although the meme has stayed mainly on Youtube, a few YTMND page’s have been made based on the meme as well^[2][3][4].
