During the days surrounding the premier of the 6th and last season of the TV show “LOST”, some pictures were published, linking the series to the battle for democracy in Iran. The main idea seems to be: there are only two places in which the rules of the world don’t apply – the Island in LOST, and Iran (a country in which since June, a young “green” pro-reform movement is battling for more freedom, and making great use of the tools the web has to offer).
The first pictures were uploaded to the web through by a twitter user called “Noure_Azadi”, in the beginning of February 2010, and re-twitted by some of his followers.
Other LOST inspired posters called to “Save Iran”, others “Help Iran’s voice to be heard”, and more calling for “the last season” of its president Ahmedinejad and its leader Khamenei. The pictures spread mainly through “Green” facebook users, and then by email. Since then, more and more have been published.
And also of the following type, placing figures from known LOST scenes in the Iranian world of oppression, such as Evin Prison, where many of the protesters and their leaders were sent in the past months.
