SKRILLEX TRIBUTE YTPMV refers to a series of YouTube Poop Music Videos (YTPMVs) featuring the song “Kill EVERYBODY” by American Dubstep/Electronic music producer Skrillex.[1]
Origin
The song “Kill EVERYBODY” is from Skrillex’s second EP Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites[2], which was released on October 22nd, 2010. The first Skrillex Tribute YTPMV was uploaded by YouTuber McMaNGOS[3] on December 9th, 2011. He remixed several different visual sources including clips from Community and Team Fortress 2, as well as added in different audio sources, with the song.
The Artist
Skrillex is the stage name of Sonny Moore, previously known for his stint as the lead singer in rock band From First to Last[4] from 2004 to 2007. After creating solo records for three years, Moore released his debut EP as Skrillex online for free in 2010.[5] Because of his musical history, Skrillex appealed to a market of fans who enjoyed From First to Last[6], introducing dubstep to people outside of its traditional listeners. This upset many fans of the genre, with threads on the Dubstep Forum[7] and the Dubstep subreddit[8] discussing why he is so disliked. Despite this, Skrillex has no feelings about his critics[9], and in 2011, became the first dance artist to be nominated for a Best New Artist Grammy.[10]

As this video gained popularity among YouTube Poopers, many of them started creating their own “SKRILLEX TRIBUTE” videos, keeping the titles in all capital letters and often referring throughout the video to Skrillex dying.[11] Within the first month, over 100[12] different Tributes had been posted, with 163 listed on the video response page[13] for McMaNGO’s original video as of February 2012.
