First of all, the whole shoop accusation isn’t really a meme. It’s a notable piece of internet language, but not a meme per say. But I guess I should assume that the explanation and writing needs to be improved :P

That said, a number of the pictures presented have the same format, as though it’s a quote of something. The “I can tell from some of the pixels and from seeing quite a few shops in my time” Perhaps there’s a meme centred around this quote?

Either way, definitely has potential. Definitely one centering around shooping, and possibly one around the “I can tell from some of the pixels…”

I do vaguely remember reading something about the original quote.
If I remember correctly, someone posted some pic from an anime (I guess it was shooped), and some 4channer posted the infamous quote.

Or I could be totally wrong.

I think it has more variations than ‘This Looks Shopped.’ I’ve seen mutations with other memes, such as Pedobear with ‘This Looks Like CP,’ etc etc. It doesn’t necessarily have to be ‘This Looks Shopped’ in image macro form.

I think this should be retitled to ‘This Looks Like X.’

I can confirm that this is atleast prior to 1999. I have this image with this date as the creation date.

The whole “shoop” thing was much later, like 2004 or so. 4chan-ish if I remember correctly.

Oh, just wanted to add that back then Paint Shop was the big image editor. Saying “shopped” meant that it was in Paint Shop Pro from Corel.

It was so much in the internet language that we always knew that when someone that said it during an interview they knew what they were talking about. God I have been around for a long time. lol.

I highly doubt such an early creation date. File creation dates can be out of whack for various reasons.

It looks like a picture of Mt Victoria in Devonport, Auckland from across the harbour (maybe on a boat?) which is right at the end of the street I live on.

Let me be more specific. It’s funny when people make an obvious shop pic, but not when people post comments. It’s annoying as poop.
