What I'm hoping for is Splatoon is an evergreen title that continues to sell throughout the Wii U's lifespan until the NX comes out. You see a lot of modern AAA games often have their biggest sales on launch week and then taper off hard in the following weeks. They sell well on that launch week, sure, but the lack of long term sales seems to be a factor in why all of these "too expensive for their own good" games end up being considered "disappointing" to AAA publishers in terms of sales numbers, even if the game sold something like, I dunno, a solid 2 to 3 million (this happened with the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot).
Worst is when a game sells high but yet the dev gets shut down anyway because the publisher didn't think the sales numbers were "high enough" (Prototype 2 sold 2 million on launch week and what did Activision do? Shut down Radical Entertainment, the game's developer, because somehow 2 million sold wasn't enough to recoup the dev costs).
