This was an April Fools’ Day joke as part of 2025's "Know Your Musk" gag.

It's not an overstatement to say that Elon Musk is one of the most prestigious professional gamers of this generation (perhaps even of all time), with his amazing achievements in the ARPGs Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4, not to mention his groundbreaking Elden Ring build and his prowess in countless other games.

Musk's incredible gaming career shows a unique and unconventional approach to elevating his video game prowess, and if you want to succeed in this industry or simply stop being a noob and "git gud," here's what you can learn from the iconic entrepreneur, who's also a successful pro-gamer.

1. Gaming Setup 101

While you may think the billion-dollar tech mogul's gaming setup is not what many would consider the "ideal" or "perfect" way to game like a pro, think again, and don't listen to the haters.

Instead, what you wanna do is get yourself a massive curved monitor (50-inch, 8K, 360Hz ideally) and place it so close to your face that you'll need to constantly look around the screen by turning your head to see the edges. This might sound odd, but let us tell you, doing so ensures the utmost efficiency in your viewing distance, ergonomics and angles.

Additionally, it's best to game in complete darkness with your monitor and in-game brightness at maximum. If you aren’t risking your eyesight or questioning your sanity due to the darkness, are you even trying to become "One Above All" in Marvel Rivals?

Another important tip, Elon's gaming posture is also a marvelous example to follow. With arms fully extended as if he's reached enlightenment while playing, this position will help you to react two times faster than the average gamer, and it'll also help reduce strain to your wrists and body.

2. Hire Remote Professional Gamers To 'Consult' On Your Character While You're On The Grindset

Elon Musk knows a thing or two about leveraging resources, so why not hire professional gamers to consult for you? Some on the internet might accuse you of being a "fraud gamer" for this strategy, however, these “gaming consultants” can massively assist you on your journey to becoming an esports player while you’re busy meeting with world leaders, flawlessly running multiple businesses or just doomscrolling on your preferred social media platform (which is X, duh 🤣).

What you'll wanna do with this is merely get in touch with a top esports player from Asia, give them your login credentials and then have them hop on your character in order to allow them full access to your account at any given time, which will then allow them to provide you a range of tips on where to improve while you're doing other stuff.

Now, this isn't the same thing as hiring someone else to play your account to power level you and get you ranked among the top players worldwide on the leaderboards — that would be against the terms of service for most games and could wind up getting you mocked online. You're just using them to consult on your build so that when you do log in next time, you'll know exactly what to do and you can prove the doubters wrong.

It's a genius strategy that ensures your character is optimally geared while you stick to the sigma grindset. After all, multitasking is key for busy people (like Musk), and you should be like him too.

3. Recruit Your Children To Bolster Your Online Ranking With A Stronger Team

This next tip might not work for everyone, but it can be an epic way to climb the ranked ladder in highly competitive multiplayer games like Overwatch 2 if you're struggling in the solo queues. Lots of people have friends they game with, and having a solid team in squad-based games can elevate everyone in the party — even if you're not the best among them.

Don't waste your time trying to assemble the perfect team for ranked matches by scouring Discord or subreddits for fellow players when you're lacking in the friend department. A better method is to do the same as Elon and get yourself some kids, then force your children to play with you and carry you through the toughest battles.

4. Don't Read Or Research Anything About The Game You're Playing

Finally, the last and perhaps the most controversial piece of advice: Avoid looking up or researching any builds and play styles on your road to becoming a pro gamer.

Many people rely on so-called "expert game guides" and preset builds to tell them how to "properly" gear up or play their characters — but those who do so lack creativity and genius that a complete novice can pull from thin air.

Instead of copying someone else's strats, combine random things that you think would work best, even if you have no idea what you're doing. Be warned that people might poke fun at you on the internet, but always remember … they just don't understand your genius mindset and natural talents.

Elon Musk’s pro gaming tips may not be a perfect fit for all, but if you're ready to embrace his unconventional yet unprecedented wisdom, we guarantee you'll catapult your gaming career exponentially.
