Among Us has grown into the 2020 indie gaming success story, surging from a mere 850 players in April of 2020 to 438,524 players in September of 2020. This is thanks in no small part to a community of quarantined Twitch streamers who took a sudden interest in the hidden-role game, who in turn got millions of eyeballs watching gameplay.

The game involves a crew of blobby astronauts working to complete tasks, but a number of people playing are assigned the role of "impostor," and are tasked with killing off crewmates one by one. After a dead body is discovered, players convene to discuss who they think is the impostor. They then vote off a player, but as many players have discovered, those votes are often maddeningly wrong.

The game grew so popular that the Among Us developers canceled development on a sequel, becoming the rare case of a game getting so popular that its developers actually want to keep working on it instead of cashing in on a sequel.
