Pete Davidson Returns With New Judd Apatow Comedy 'The King Of Staten Island'
The trailer for Judd Apatow's new movie dropped today, and it received quite a lot of attention on Twitter. The King Of Staten Island is a semi-autobiographical dramedy that stars Pete Davidson, and will be released on demand and not in theatres on June 12th, thanks to the pandemic deeply affecting the film industry.
While the movie appears to shift Davidson's path from aspiring comedian to tattoo artist according to the trailer, it does appear to focus on how the comedian grappled with the loss of his own father from the September 11th attacks. Both Apatow and Davidson wrote the screenplay for the film, which also stars Marisa Tomei, Steve Buscemi, and Bill Burr shockingly received a lot of positive responses today, despite the SNL's sour relationship with the media.

I really like Pete, just see him wasting his talent. Looks like this movie may be his showcase. If anyone can find the diamond in a piece of coal, it's Judd Apatow.

The Pete Davidson bio pic staring Pete Davidson as Pete Davidson. Now be a darling and give Marisa Tomei her Supporting Actress Oscar, pretty please.

Many users were eager to see how far along the comedian had come along from the past several years.
I applaud Pete Davidson's tenacious quest for sanity and survival, and how he appears to be exorcising his demons out in his work. Mental illness combined with the soul-deep loss of his Dad takes great courage to fight. 🥊

Can't think of anybody I'd want to watch struggle act for two hours less than this

Users were happy to joke about NDA's since Davidson mad audience members sign one back in December upon viewing his comedy shows.
Do you have to sign a non-disclosure agreement to watch it?

And should that be the case, at least we have a movie about the Wu-Tang Clan to look forward to.
"The King of Staten Island"? The Wu-Tang Clan are the real kings of Staten Island.
