We all know the feeling. One moment, we’re just looking to buy a drill at Home Depot, and the next minute we’re in a violent altercation with a random man over wax toilet rings, the police are called, and you’re about to lose the job you didn’t have in the first place. It happens to the best of us. Now, this guy posted his story to Reddit to share his male Karen encounter with the rest of us, and it’s even wilder than you’d expect. Let’s take a look at a trending story from this month on /r/IDontWorkHereLady.

The Original Karen Encounter

(Source: Reddit)

This story begins with what sounds like a typical Karen story, aside from the fact that this is a random man and not a middle-aged woman with a bad haircut. At first, it’s just a minor annoyance to the person in the story, but things are about to take a very abrupt turn.

When Things Go Downhill

Yeah, this escalated quickly. While we can’t say what we would have done in that situation, punching that guy in the face probably took a lot of boldness. However, OP’s later updates explain that the man essentially had him pinned against a wall and would probably attempt to do much worse. Either way, as you can probably imagine, things did not go well after OP punched the guy in the face.

The Conclusion

So, Male Karen was arrested, and cameras showed OP was acting in self-defense. But we still wish we could know more about this very strange man and whether or not he makes it a regular habit of shoving around retail employees over toilet rings (what are those, anyway?)

Some Redditors Offered Alternative Solutions

Predictably, commenters had some advice. One of the best ones was that he should have pretended the Male Karen worked there. Who knows how he would have reacted to that, but hopefully not with violence. Another Redditor suggested OP abruptly refuse to help the man, but not explain that he’s not an employee, which almost certainly would have led to something worse.

Some Suggested Sending Him on a Wild Goose Chase

Pointing to an aisle close by may not have been the best solution even though OP was already frustrated with the guy. Everyone knows Home Depots are basically labyrinths of wet paint and sawdust, and if he’d sent him far enough away, he’d have time to escape undisturbed.

The Reddit Thread Gets Deep

Reddit is hardly the place to find competent moral philosophers, but about half of the thread was devoted to figuring out whether or not punching Male Karen in the face was the ethical solution. Surprisingly, this was a respectful debate, which is a rare thing to find on Reddit, especially for a thread about two guys getting violent in a home depot over toilet supplies.

Then, It Went Back to Typical Reddit Fashion

No Reddit thread would be complete without a surprise visit from a bot that clearly cannot read the situation very well. Reddit can’t stay serious for long, after all.

Some People Accused OP of Making This All Up

It’s not impossible that this could be made up. But why? Is typing all this out really worth it for a few thousand upvotes on an anonymous website? However, since Reddit is known for people behaving like this, it’ll forever remain a mystery if this story was true, partially true, or completely made up.

In The End, At Least There's One Thing We All Agree On:
