Butt Mogged These Zoomers Today refers to a viral X (formerly Twitter) post by user @freshkillspod depicting a woman crouched into a twerking position on the street while two zoomers walk by in the background, captioned, "butt mogged these zoomers today," "mogging" essentially meaning to dominate. The post was made around August 2022 and gained viral spread over the following months, becoming the subject of further memes throughout 2023 referencing it, including copypasta memes, photoshops and redraws.

Origin

Although the exact date of the post is unknown, the earliest reference to the butt mogging post was posted by X^[1] user @blankets444 on August 5th, 2022, suggesting it was posted around this date. On August 11th, a screenshot of the full post, made by private, now-deleted account @freshkillspod, was posted to /r/BrandNewSentence^[2] by u/DeadForDecember, garnering roughly 100 upvotes in a year (shown below).

Spread

The post gained viral spread over the following months, with the phrase also becoming a copypasta on X,^[3][4] applied to new images and photoshops of the butt-mogging woman in now scenarios (examples from August 2022 shown below). On August 18th, the image was posted by Instagram^[5] user jinsangmemes, garnering over 1,500 likes in a year.

On March 17th, 2023, X^[6] user @ACABylonBee posted the image, writing, "Modest clothing yet every zoomer looks. Is there something attractive to butt mogging that society has lost?" garnering over 1,800 likes in seven months (shown below, left). On March 23rd, u/ThirdFloorNorth posted a screenshot of a repost of the original meme to /r/196,^[7] garnering over 1,600 upvotes in the same span of time (shown below, right). On March 28th, Instagram^[8] user coolandfuntimes reposted the meme, garnering over 6,000 likes in the same span of time.

On September 16th, the meme was posted to /r/BrandNewSentence^[9] again, garnering over 3,100 upvotes in a month. On October 7th, a meme referencing the post was posted to /r/okbuddyretard,^[10] garnering roughly 300 upvotes in three weeks. On October 27th, X^[11] user @reallifesenator posted the image, writing, "Group costume idea," garnering over 650 likes in under 24 hours (shown below).
