Two Baltimore slang terms called "jittleyang" and "fuhuhluhtoogan" are viral on TikTok.

The two words might be some of the oddest pieces of AAVE to ever be gentrified, spawning from one viral rap song known online as the "Baltimore Accent Song." Its creator, a man who goes by Bippleyipsnipp, is the key to unraveling this convoluted gibberish.

So, what does "jittleyang" mean? Arguably more importantly, what does "fuhuhluhtoogan" mean? Let's explain.

Where Do 'Jittleyang' And 'Fuhuhluhtoogan' Come From?

The pieces of slang both come from Baltimore, Maryland, and their genesis seems to center on one man, a local rapper and barber named Richard Webster, codename Bippleyipsnipp.

In March 2021, Bippleyipsnipp released a song called "City Girls" in which he's seen in a Baltimore back alley, dancing and rapping the almost unintelligible lingo. The song went mega-viral on TikTok at the end of 2023, as many people were mesmerized by his noises.

In the song, he uses both "jittleyang" and "fuhuhluhtoogan" as well as an onslaught of other canonically similar sounds. On his personal Instagram, he posts daily videos of himself voicing over viral videos with his slang catchphrases.

It should be noted that Bippleyipsnipp does not write "jittleyang" with two t's and instead writes it "jikkuhlang."

What Does 'Jittleyang' Mean?

In 2022, Richard Webster, aka Bippleyipsnipp, published a book on Amazon called Jikkuhlang the Dictionary. One would think that it would contain the elusive definition of the strange slang term.

Unfortunately, there is no direct definition of the word in the Baltimore Bible. Instead, a similarly structured word "jikkal" is defined. It means "an attention grabber."

In other words mentioned in the dictionary, it's apparent that the suffix "-yang" is a stylistic emphasis, added to words to give an extra flare and not necessarily an extra meaning. Therefore, "jittle-yang" likely means a person or thing that is an attention grabber.

What Does 'Fuhuhluhtoogan' Mean?

Similarly to "jittleyang," "fuhuhluhtoogan" also doesn't have a finite definition in Webster's Jikkuhlang the Dictionary.

Using context clues from its variant words (that are defined in the book) like "fuckalyoot" and "fuckalyew," it's safe to assume that "fuhuhluhtoogan" means something akin to being good in bed.

What's The 'Are You A Jittleyang Or A Fuhuhluhtoogan' Meme?

In January, a video went viral on TikTok in which a little girl was asking (what seemed to be) her mother, "Are you a jittleyang or a fuhuhluhtoogan?" The girl was practically screaming it and the mom kept saying, "What?"

The original video was posted by TikToker @_shawwttyy who said in the text overlay that it was his little sister humorously harassing their mom.

The video has sparked a resurgence of "jittleyang" and "fuhuhluhtoogan" memes.
