Mods, Crush His Skull is a viral video of streamer LowTierGod commanding his stream moderators to ban a user in his chat, telling them to "crush his skull." In 2023, the clip achieved popularity online in the form of a reaction video and GIF and has also been used as a GIF caption meme format.
Origin
During a stream that broadcasted prior to October 8th, 2022, streamer LowTierGod told his moderation team to ban a user in his chat, saying, "Mods, crush his skull, thank you" and making a hand gesture.
On October 8th, 2022, YouTube[1] user twee uploaded the clip to YouTube, where it received over 388,000 views in one year (shown below).
On January 21st, 2023, Tenor[2] user youbananapeel posted a GIF based on the clip (shown below).
Spread
On March 30th, 2023, YouTube[3] user SytherSnake made the earliest found edit of the clip, combining it with the lightning picture of LowTierGod from the You Should Kill Yourself… Now! meme. The upload (shown below) received over 281,000 views in eight months.
On May 31st, 2023, YouTube[4] user s41nt made a reupload of the original clip that received over 652,000 views in six months.
On June 22nd, 2023, X[5] / Twitter user @vivicooIy posted the earliest discovered GIF caption meme based on the format. The meme, which referenced Pikmin, received over 2,100 reposts and 12,000 likes in five months (shown below, left). On June 23rd, X[6] user @Zari_Wari posted a GIF caption meme that gained over 1,400 reposts and 10,000 likes in five months (shown below, right).
In the following months, the clip and the phrase both saw spread as a reaction format, with the clip also being used as source material for GIF captions and other memes.
