There's a new Hatsune Miku Vocaloid song going viral on social media, but it's causing a lot of arguments.

The song, titled "Mimukauwa Nice Try," sees a younger version of Hatsune Miku playing the classic card game Uno while taunting her opponent, and it's garnered over 3 million views in just a week.

So what makes the song and the character so controversial? Here's what you need to know about Mesugaki Miku.

What Is 'Mimukauwa Nice Try?'

On December 6th, 2024, artist and Vocaloid music producer Nunununununununununununununununu posted their latest song and AMV to YouTube. The song, titled "Mimukauwa Nice Try," stars a de-aged, bratty version of Hatsune Miku referred to as "Mesugaki Miku." In the video, she plays Uno against an opponent and flirtatiously taunts them throughout.

The video was a hit and garnered over 3 million views on YouTube in a week, with another few million on X / Twitter. Many viewers subsequently started to draw fan art of Mesugaki Miku, much of which shows her playing Uno.

The song has penetrated just about every social media platform now, but wherever it pops up, arguments are never far off.

Why Is 'Mimukauwa Nice Try' Controversial?

Many Vocaloid fans are conflicted over "Mimukauwa Nice Try" and its character, Mesugaki Miku. While a lot of listeners find the song catchy, Mesugaki Miku, as the name suggests, is a "mesugaki," which roughly means a "sassy brat." This term is often used to describe a type of lolicon character who is young and flirtatious.

Some people are vehemently calling out the character, the music video, its creator and anyone who interacts with it for supporting loli content. Many defenders of the video and character are suggesting you can still enjoy the song without necessarily being into loli, while others are simply defending the whole thing outright.
