Talk of "the thirsty hamster sunroof thing" first started going around X (Twitter) on February 19th, 2024. On that day, several users made posts referring to a lewd act involving a car with a sunroof. Most notably, one user wrote, "When he won't lay over my sunroof and let me act like a thirsty hamster 😔💔"

The term has now made its way to TikTok, but what exactly does it mean? The term, sometimes just known as "the hamster thing," is referring to an act in which a man lies across the top of a car and hangs his member through the sunroof, allowing his partner to pleasure him from inside the vehicle.

The act somewhat resembles a hamster drinking from a water bottle, thus earning it the name "the hamster thing."
