For those unfamiliar, "2 Girls 1 Cup" is the colloquial name for the trailer for the Brazilian scat coprophagic fetish adult film Hungry Bitches made by MFX Media in 2007. The video also features actresses Karla and Latifa from the "2 Girls 1 Cup" video.

Similar to the success of the "2 Girls 1 Cup" video, the "4 Girls Finger Paint" became a popular source for reactions on YouTube. The earliest known reactions to the video were posted by YouTubers Jordan Greene and hoolian666 on December 10th, 2007.

YouTuber PewDiePie mentioned the meme in 2016 in a video titled "Things You Should Never Google." Around the 2:49 mark, he reacted to the video (shown below).
