What's The 'Open The Noor' Meme? The Viral Ring Doorbell Video Explained

Ring cameras are definitely handy but also very creepy, as in, you probably don't want to see who's banging on your door at 3 a.m. Of course, these front porch cameras catch a lot of funny intruders, including the old (and presumably drunk) man knocking on the door in the viral "Open The Noor" video, also known as the "Open Na Noor" or "Open the Door" meme.

His odd pronunciation of the word "door" and how close he gets to the person's camera is the perfect concoction for a viral TikTok meme that's continued into the new year.

However, where did the original "Open The Noor" video come from? Who is the man in the video? And why would this only happen in Ohio? Let's explain.

Where's The Original 'Open The Noor' Video?

Although many think that the video was recorded in Ohio, the original "Open The Noor" video was actually shot in Alabama by TikToker @samantha_roseeeee. The man in the video is Samantha's dad who was just trying to get into the house early in the morning. Samantha recorded her dad's shenanigans and framed it like he was a stranger, making the video go viral in late October 2022.

Why Do People Think That 'Open The Noor' Came From Ohio?

Although @samantha_roseeeee's video was the original, it went more viral after TikToker @jimmywells96 repurposed the clip for his mock news segment on first-hand happenings in Ohio. Jimmy made a YouTube video for his channel Outside Edition, posing as an angry Ohio resident who wanted to "get the fuck out of Ohio" after recording the Ring camera video.

Due to the virality of @jimmywells96's TikTok video, "Open The Noor" became a trending sound, used by many creators that lip-dubbed it, recreated it and re-animated it.

How To Use 'Open The Noor' In Memes

At first, the predominant TikTok trend associated with the video was making a photo slideshow that imagined Breaking Bad's Walter Jr. saying the phrase. Once that concept died down, creators got a little more inventive by making a greenscreen version of the original and inserting Samantha's dad into various settings.

Regardless, the reason that the video went viral and has since become a meme is because of the man's slurring of the word "door," which conveys a sense of urgency, desperation and chaos. All of those factors mixed with the original wholesomeness of Samantha making her dad a meme have made "Open The Noor" an instant classic.
