Who Is The 'Girl With The List' On TikTok?

If you are a teenage girl online learning about the trials and tribulations of childbearing for the first time, pregnancy might sound like something straight out of a Cronenberg film. Shocking internet visuals combined with a lacking public sex and health education system leads to young women finding some of the weirder sides of pregnancy all by themselves. In 2022, one girl decided to share how she copes with learning new facts about motherhood and inadvertently started a movement centered around an innocuous phrase; "Where is the girl with The List?"

Where Does "The Girl With The List" Come From?

The girl with the list is a TikToker named Yuni, who posted a video one February evening toggling between her TikTok and her Notes app. The video begins with a screen recording of a happy mother explaining why a pregnant woman might experience her butt becoming flatter after giving birth, after which Yuni can be seen adding the information to a long pre-existing list of "cons." The video went viral instantly, with people laughing at how short the "pros" were, and adding suggestions to the list of "cons."

How Did "The Girl With The List" Become A Meme?

Yuni soon began a series titled, "Daily reminder to take your birth control," where she stitched various videos that showed the more negative sides of childbearing and added new cons to her list. Some of the videos showed facts that other women found completely new and surprising; for instance, many people didn't realize how big the placenta actually is, and others did not know that breastfeeding can change the shape of your body permanently.

People also began to tag her in other creators' videos, often in a variation of the phrases "Where is the girl with the list?" or "Someone tell the girl with the list, ASAP!"

In September 2022, Yuni stopped creating new content and published a 350 bullet point long list of cons on a public website that can be accessed here.
